Make a list and check it twice...

But first, you’re going to want to choose the perfect Christmas card so you’ll have inspiration to draw from. Then you're going to want to start brainstorming what to write on the inside. Sometimes, just simply signing your name on the inside will suffice, depending on whether there’s already wording on the cover or inside of the card. Take this sweet Christmas card, for example.

Candied yams.

Great for friends, long-distance relatives or co-workers, the wording on the inside of the card already does the work for you and less is more depending on your preference.

  • Interior text: Wishing you a Christmas as sweet as candied yams

  • Add-on text: And as sweet as you, too! - Mary Lou

Finding the right words can be a pain in the ASS!

Meet the Christmas Donkey, who’s as disgruntled and quirky as can be. Sort of like how your message should read, though juxtaposition’s never a bad thing. Remember, there are no rules and come back to the drawing board if you get stuck. Taking a break helps clear the mind and a lot of times, that lull is when you come up with the best ideas.

  • Add-on text: Hee-haw! - Tim

Let the words roll off your tongue...

What to write in a Christmas card for youngsters should be easy to understand. Take this Christmas card for boys with a snake on the cover dangling from Christmas lights, for example. The inside wording is silly and the use of onomatopoeia makes it perfect for toddlers and adolescent boys alike.

  • Interior text: Merry Hiss-mas!

  • Add-on text: And a happy new year! Love – Nana

If you prefer to write a lengthier sentiment, that’s perfectly fine too. Just grab a piece of paper and jot down your ideas and everything will eventually come to be. Don’t overthink it and know that it’s truly the thought that counts when all is said and done.
